Unless you’ve been living on a desert island, you’ve likely seen—and probably tried—some kind of Dubai chocolate product. Whether it’s the actual pistachio and toasted kataifi-filled chocolate bar or one of the flavor’s many, many iterations—like Shake Shack’s Dubai Chocolate Shake, IHOP’s Dubai Chocolate Pancakes, or a Magnum Dubai Chocolate Ice Cream Bar—it’s been impossible to escape the Dubai chocolate flavors since the candy went viral in 2023. However, Dubai chocolate may finally be getting the boot in favor of a new internationally inspired chocolate that channels the flavors of Japan. Lindt is debuting a new “Tokyo-style” bar that features strawberry and matcha. Strawberry and matcha is a flavor combo that’s been trending up this year, from Starbucks’ Strawberry Matcha Loaf to Dunkin’s Strawberry Cloud Matcha drink. Now, the popular tea latte flavor is getting a chocolatey makeover. Lindt first debuted its new Tokyo Style Matcha Strawberry Chocolate Bar in the UK earlier this year. However, at the 2026 Sweets & Snacks Expo in Las Vegas, the brand announced its plans to bring the chocolate, which is inspired by Japanese tea culture, to the U.S. And, much like last year’s debut of Lindt’s Dubai-Style Chocolate Bar, the new candy, shrouded in a glass case, became the talk of the convention. Lindt’s new chocolate bar features matcha filling, crispy genmai rice, strawberry flavors, and strawberry pieces encased in a matcha-flavored white chocolate shell. The Tokyo-style bar has a similar textural experience to Dubai chocolate, but with a lighter flavor compared to Dubai chocolate’s pistachio decadence. The Lindt Tokyo Style Matcha Strawberry Bar is rolling out to retailers in phases, with some stores, including Target, Walmart, and Walgreens, receiving the product now. Some customers who have already tried the bar call it the “best chocolate bar flavor [they’ve] ever had” and admit to eating the entire 5.1-ounce bar in one evening. After the initial rollout this month, the Tokyo Style Matcha Strawberry Bar will have a more national expansion in August. So, if you can’t find it just yet, don’t panic! You’ll be able to try the newest flavor trend—which is shaping up to be as big as Dubai chocolate—soon.
